How to Choose the Right Video Production Company

Business

So you’ve decided it’s time to invest in some video production services and make a video package for your business. You’ve done the easy part, now comes the hard part, with so many different businesses out there promoting exactly that how do you choose between them? A good commercial or infomercial needs to be done perfectly, it has to fit with your brands’ voice, style, and still hit all the right marks.

Here at American Audio Visual, we’ve been in the industry long enough to know what to look out for and in this post, we’re going to highlight just a few of the things you’ll want to keep an eye out for when looking at video production services.

Peruse The Portfolio

Every video production company should have a showreel or portfolio of old work for you to look at and it’s important that you do. It will give you a great insight into the company and what they’re willing to put their reputation too. Look at the quality of the work and ask for testimonials too. As with all things doing your research informs your decision, so be thorough.

Consider The Concept

Okay, so they have a great portfolio, but all their videos are cute, fluffy animals against a green screen. It’s a great concept but it’s not yours and you have to consider if you want a 30-second commercial showing off the high octane adrenaline rush of your bungee jumping business, these pet professionals might not be the right fit for you. It means you have to have a good idea of what it is you’re going to achieve already in place. Good video production services can help you workshop and improve that idea but you should already have the outline at least.

Who’s Doing What?

As we just mentioned, you should have the seed of an idea for the video, but the whole reason you’re hiring a video production company is probably that you don’t really have much of a clue what you’re doing, that doesn’t mean you don’t know what they’re doing. Ask questions and make sure they’re offering as much value as every other company you speak to. Do they have a scriptwriter on staff? Will they help brainstorm the concept? Do they provide professional actors or have links to a casting company? Is the editing included? A no to any one of these questions would dramatically impact the production as you’d have to outsource that process too.

Mind The Marketing

Making an unforgettable video package is only as good as the number of people you get to see it. Marketing the video once it’s completed is just as crucial. Talk to you video production company about the marketing, how they plan to tackle that and what they’re previous successes have been.

Various Values

Finally and as with all things it comes down to price and value. We at American Audio Visual know that these two things are very different and you need to consider what you’re getting for the price you are paying. Browse the market and consider all the above to make an informed and wise decision.
